Curriculum

Los Lunas Schools provides Tier III Interventions (Special Education Curricular Programs) for our students with Inpidualized Education Plans (IEPs). The following programs are utilized in our special education classrooms:

Inside Algebra
Orton-Gillingham
Language! Live

STAR
TransMath
Vmath
Vmath Summer

Inside Algebra:
Inside Algebra is used in grades 8-12 in our district. The focus of the program is on mastery of objectives and aims to close the achievement gap by making math understandable to all students. The program uses a multisensory approach to assist students with visualizing algebraic concepts.

Orton-Gillingham:
Dr. Samuel T. Orton and Anna Gillingham developed this approach to teach students with reading difficulties how to read. The program is used primarily in grades K-3 and focuses on a multisensory approach to reading instruction.

Language! Live:
Dr. Louisa Moats is the author of this comprehensive English Language Arts curriculum for students who struggle with reading and writing. Language! Live is used in grades 4-12. This program blends online instruction with targeted teacher instruction.

LINKS:
The LINKS (Linking Assessment and Instruction for Independence) Curriculum is an evidenced based curriculum that focuses on teaching students with Autism and other developmental disabilities to be independent in school, community, and vocational living. LINKS is used in grades 7-12.

STAR:
The STAR (Strategies for Teaching Based on Autism Research) Program is an evidenced based program for teaching children with Autism. The six areas of curriculum focus include receptive language, expressive language, spontaneous language, functional routines, academics, and plan and social skills.

TransMath:
TransMath is a comprehensive math intervention curriculum for secondary students that focus on concepts ranging from number sense to understanding algebra. TransMath is used in grades 6-12.

Vmath:
Vmath is a targeted math intervention program for our students who struggle with learning mathematical concepts. Vmath also has an online component that focuses on strengthening students' computational skills. Vmath is used in grades 3-6.

Vmath Summer:
Vmath Summer focuses on fundamental mathematical skills for our students who struggle with learning mathematical concepts. Vmath Summer also has an online component that focuses on strengthening students' computations skills. Vmath Summer is used in grades K-2.
